My thoughts after 36 days of participating, listening and monitoring in Blab.
Yes, another tool to for you to learn in digital. This is the most exciting thing since Pinterest launched.
What is Blab? From the Blab website- it is a place to watch, join, and interact with live conversations about the topics that matter most to you.
My version-It is group video broadcasting that is highly engaging. It is real people connecting and educating other real people all around the world. It is a very welcoming community. It is so easy to find a topic and dive in live, subscribe to upcoming blab or watch a replay.
Blab is run by 14 amazing employees. I love their vision. They are known to jump into blabs and add to conversation about topics they love like craft beer. They said they are not there to talk about blab. Blab users averaging 1 hour per day on the site. I know I have spent way more than 1 hour on the site in between meetings and work. Oops.
My mind is spinning with ideas. Here is my short list:
Entrepreneur and Startup community-it takes a village (share and learn)
Recruitment-finding and connecting to passive candidates when they are sharing their expertise in a blab
Career and Talent coaching
Companies can sponsor a blab on a topic (#SAP on #CloudTalk has already jumped in as well as Dell)
Customer Service-live engagement to help
Education-teachers and students at all levels (companies and schools)
Associations-blab a live meeting or recap the meeting for discussion
Business development-ask an expert, share your passion and add value -NO pitches
Tech community-geek it up with each other and problem solve
Behind the scenes of anything
DIY projects live
Cooking shows
Replace webinars
Authors –book club, talk with your raving fans
Speakers-before or after sessions with a speaker
Fundraising to rally around a nonprofit or startup
Conference recaps and takeaways after the conference
Conference live breakout sessions
Retail-new in the store-week in review of what’s hot and trends
Restaurant new menu update, events
Travel discussions-Disney, trip out west or east, must see, what to do and how to prepare for any trip
Live discussion bridging the gap between millennials and boomers
City or Chamber-what’s new around town (live tour) and discuss upcoming events. Gain feedback on what people love or want more of.
So many opportunities. Blab increases your credibility and trust level when others can connect with you live.
Your turn: What are your ideas of using Blab in your business?
Quick Blab Tips

Use ManyCam for lower thirds if you want to customize your screen on your web cam
UPDATE: As of August 13, Blab has shut down to focus on other projects. Details from the team are shared here: https://medium.com/@shaanvp/blab-is-dead-long-live-blab-d2f72449ddb8#.dahroin08. The good news is Blab got us thinking and more comfortable with Live Streaming. It will be exciting to see what they come up with next. In the meantime, you can Live Stream with many tools like Facebook Live, Huzza, and YouTube Live to name a few. What is your favorite?
