RaRa Blog Category

By | RaRa

Kendra, what the heck is the RaRa category on your blog? I’m glad you asked.

Years ago an acquaintance that I met at a networking event came up to me and said did you realize your name is RaRa. I asked her to explain. She said when you write our your name, Kend”ra Ra”mirez, it says RaRa. She said funny as you are already a natural cheerleader. It stuck with me. As I do believe in being a cheerleader for those around me. I am your biggest cheerleader. I want the best for those I am surrounded by. I am the one that will smile and talk to strangers in hopes of lifting their spirits. My mom says I have done this since I was a small child. No joke, my first word was Hi!

Thank you, Pam, for pointing that out to me!

Love,
Your cheerleader, Kendra!

15 Things to Throw Away in the New Year

By | RaRa
[fusion_text]No, this isn’t a post about “things” to throw away but about feelings and thoughts that no longer serve you or others around you.

This is the year that you throw away feelings of:

     -not smart enough

     -not good enough

     -envy

     -loneliness

     -fear of failure

     -not talented

     -too old

     -too young

     -not creative

     -no one cares

     -not enough education

     -don’t know how

     -can’t do it

     -too hard

-he or she is better than me

No one is perfect or has all the answers. Ask yourself, would you allow someone to speak that way to you? Heck no, you wouldn’t. Stop being your worst enemy. This is your year! Time to shine and not be afraid of what you are capable of accomplishing for yourself. Shine on!

What I learned from monitoring Blab and ideas on how a business could use Blab

By | Digital Marketing

My thoughts after 36 days of participating, listening and monitoring in Blab.

Yes, another tool to for you to learn in digital. This is the most exciting thing since Pinterest launched.

What is Blab? From the Blab website- it is a place to watch, join, and interact with live conversations about the topics that matter most to you.

My version-It is group video broadcasting that is highly engaging. It is real people connecting and educating other real people all around the world. It is a very welcoming community. It is so easy to find a topic and dive in live, subscribe to upcoming blab or watch a replay.

Blab is run by 14 amazing employees. I love their vision. They are known to jump into blabs and add to conversation about topics they love like craft beer. They said they are not there to talk about blab. Blab users averaging 1 hour per day on the site. I know I have spent way more than 1 hour on the site in between meetings and work. Oops.

My mind is spinning with ideas. Here is my short list:

Entrepreneur and Startup community-it takes a village (share and learn)

Recruitment-finding and connecting to passive candidates when they are sharing their expertise in a blab

Career and Talent coaching

Companies can sponsor a blab on a topic (#SAP on #CloudTalk has already jumped in as well as Dell)

Customer Service-live engagement to help

Education-teachers and students at all levels (companies and schools)

Associations-blab a live meeting or recap the meeting for discussion

Business development-ask an expert, share your passion and add value -NO pitches

Tech community-geek it up with each other and problem solve

Behind the scenes of anything

DIY projects live

Cooking shows

Replace webinars

Authors –book club, talk with your raving fans

Speakers-before or after sessions with a speaker

Fundraising to rally around a nonprofit or startup

Conference recaps and takeaways after the conference

Conference live breakout sessions

Retail-new in the store-week in review of what’s hot and trends

Restaurant new menu update, events

Travel discussions-Disney, trip out west or east, must see, what to do and how to prepare for any trip

Live discussion bridging the gap between millennials and boomers

City or Chamber-what’s new around town (live tour) and discuss upcoming events. Gain feedback on what people love or want more of.

So many opportunities. Blab increases your credibility and trust level when others can connect with you live.

Your turn: What are your ideas of using Blab in your business?

Quick Blab Tips

Listen and participate first before setting up your first blab

It is mobile and desktop

Need a twitter account to sign into blab

Your blab is not private

Be aware of the background on your screen when your web cam is on

Remind people to click “tell the bird” to share your blab on Twitter

No nose shots on the web cam-check the angle of your web cam. No one wants to see up your nose.

Good profile pics not logos or pixelated photo

Submit /q to ask a question during a blab

Chose a great title for your blab

Schedule and promote your blab

Engage with viewers-Respond to questions and add them to the video stream.

Don’t forget your website link in your profile

Use blab embed code after blab on your website

Don’t use blab in the car-please!

Use ManyCam for lower thirds if you want to customize your screen on your web cam

UPDATE: As of August 13, Blab has shut down to focus on other projects. Details from the team are shared here: https://medium.com/@shaanvp/blab-is-dead-long-live-blab-d2f72449ddb8#.dahroin08. The good news is Blab got us thinking and more comfortable with Live Streaming. It will be exciting to see what they come up with next. In the meantime, you can Live Stream with many tools like Facebook Live, Huzza, and YouTube Live to name a few. What is your favorite?
